Pull a week of footage off your Night Owl recorder
Night Owl recorders keep it simple, everything is under Backup in the main menu. You'll need a USB stick (64 GB or larger). When you're done, head back to the upload steps.
The steps
- Plug your USB stick into the recorder
Use a spare USB port on the DVR/NVR (temporarily unplug the mouse if needed, and re-plug it after). - Open the backup menu
Right-click then Main Menu then Backup. Log in if asked. - Choose camera, day, and hours
Select the channel that sees your sales floor, set the date, and the start/end time to your opening hours. - Start the backup
Pick MP4 or AVI if a format choice appears, select the USB stick, and start. The progress bar can take a while for a full day, that's normal.
Multiple files? Night Owl splits long exports into chunks, send the whole folder via Smash (the free upload tool, see the upload steps), that's fine.
Using a computer instead? The Night Owl Protect / X desktop or phone apps can save clips too, but for a full day the USB route on the recorder itself is faster and more reliable.
