Export guide — Hikvision

Pull a day of footage off your Hikvision recorder

Menus vary slightly by model, but every Hikvision recorder has an export path within a click or two of these steps. You'll need a USB stick (32 GB or larger). When you're done, head back to the upload steps.

01

Plug your USB stick into the recorder

Use the USB port on the front or back of the DVR/NVR box (not the TV/monitor).

02

Open the export menu

Right-click with the recorder's mouse → MenuVideo Export (on some models: Export, or Playback → select clips). Log in if asked — it's the same PIN you use to view playback.

03

Choose camera, day, and hours

Tick the camera that sees your main sales floor. Set the date, and the start/end time to your opening hours (e.g. 09:00–19:00). If a Stream type option appears, pick Sub-stream — smaller file, same analysis.

04

Export as MP4

Choose MP4 as the file type if offered, select your USB stick as the destination, and hit Export. The recorder shows a progress bar — a full day can take a while; you can leave it running.

Files come out as .mp4 or .avi? Both are perfect. Some models export .h264/.h265 — send those too, we handle them.

Using a computer instead? Install iVMS-4200 (Hikvision's free desktop app), add your recorder, then Remote Playback → pick camera & time → Download. Files land as MP4 on your computer — send those.

Questions or a different camera brand? Email hello@aspen-insights.com with the brand name on your recorder — we'll send you the exact steps.
