Export guide — Dahua / Amcrest

Pull a day of footage off your Dahua / Amcrest recorder

Amcrest, and many no-name recorders, are Dahua inside — the same menus apply. You'll need a USB stick (32 GB or larger). When you're done, head back to the upload steps.

01

Plug your USB stick into the recorder

Use a USB port on the recorder box itself.

02

Open the backup menu

Right-click with the recorder's mouse → Main MenuBackup. Log in if asked.

03

Choose camera, day, and hours

Select the channel (camera) covering your sales floor, set the date, and start/end times to your opening hours.

04

Pick MP4 and start the backup

Set File Format to MP4 if the option exists (otherwise DAV is fine — we can read it), press Add to list the clips, then Backup/Start. Leave it running until the bar completes.

Got .dav files? That's Dahua's own format — send them exactly as they are, we convert on our side.

Using a computer instead? Install SmartPSS (Dahua's free desktop app) or Amcrest Surveillance Pro, connect the recorder, then Playback → select camera & time → Download.

Questions or a different camera brand? Email hello@aspen-insights.com with the brand name on your recorder — we'll send you the exact steps.

No facial recognition. People appear in our analytics as anonymous stick figures only. Your footage is deleted after analysis; only the anonymized numbers are kept.
